WILL PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI RETURN?

Recall that the president of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, embarked on a medical vacation
on Thursday 19th January, 2017 and left Vice president Yemi
Osinbanjo to fill in for him as acting president.
Recall also that media reports went
viral to the effect that president Buhari died in a London hospital in the UK
while receiving treatment. The presidency had denied this and is still denying
that the president is dead.
Nonetheless, president Buhari’s
medical vacation has come to an end and he is expected to resume his duties as
president of Nigeria tomorrow Monday 6th February, 2017. Today is 5th
February and there is no word about the president’s arrival yet.
Speculations as to whether or not
the president will return are still lingering around the streets of Nigeria
especially since he there has been no word from the president since his
vacation on the 19th of January, 2017.
In spite of the rumours about his
death, apart from controversial and obviously misleading photos posted on
social media purportedly by himself and later by certain people in his circle,
the president has really not done anything positive to convince Nigerians that
the rumours are not true.
The most recent speculation is that
Buhari has asked that his leave be extended. I really cannot tell if the
president did so by himself or if someone acted on his behalf as has been the
norm since his departure.
Taking all these into
consideration, the question whether or not the president will return should
still be a question with a very big question mark.
