CAMEROON WINS FIFTH AFCON TITLE

Cameroon celebrates

The indomitable lions of Cameroon roared their way to victory on Sunday 5th February, 2017 at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon after they surged from behind to defeat the pharaohs of Egypt.

Arsenal’s Mohammed Elneny opened the scoring in the first half with a well struck strike after meeting Salah’s pass. Undoubtedly a quality goal.

However, Cameroon made a spectacular change in the first half by bringing on Nkoulou who proved his worth in the second half by handing the lions an equalizer with a well-directed header.

Just when extra time seemed like a possibility, it was Aboubakar who controlled a long ball played out from the lions’ defense, lobbed the first defender in his way, and then volleyed the ball past the Egyptian goalkeeper.

It was a scintillating final as both teams entertained spectators with good football, but the indomitable lions of Cameroon emerged as the winners. They seemed to have roared their way from a goal down to drown the pharaohs of Egypt in the Nile.

Cameroon last won the AFCON in 2002 and their present victory marks their fifth of the tournament overall.

Cameroon will now represent Africa in the upcoming 2017 Confederations Cup.
