AMERICAN JUDGE PUTS RESTRAINING ORDER ON TRUMP’S TRAVEL BAN.

Judge James Robart

Judge James Robart, a federal judge in Washington State has placed a temporary restraint on Trump’s travel ban.

Judge Robart, who was appointed by President George bush in 2003, gave the order on Friday, 3rd February, 2017. The order will see that Trump’s travel ban is suspended albeit only temporarily.

Following the ruling thus, a U.S official has been kind to reveal that government authorities have been communicating with airlines and taking steps that would allow travel by those previously barred from doing so.

While the Department of Justice is believed to be filing an emergency stay of the Judge’s ruling, word emerged from the White House describing the ruling as an outrageous one.

However, in a subsequent statement from the White House minutes later, the word outrageous appeared to have been withdrawn as it said:

“The president’s order is intended to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people.”

Judge Robart’s ruling will seem to have set a high- stakes legal confrontation between the new president and the judicial branch over his temporary ban on entry by citizens of seven majority- Muslim countries as well as refugees.

The White House is definitely not pleased with Judge Robart’s ruling; nonetheless, it will not disobey the order but follow the proper channel to vent its dissatisfaction because no one is above the law.

Judge Robart’s ruling is only temporal. As a matter of fact, Trump’s travel ban could be difficult to permanently undo because the president has broad authority to set immigration policy.
