STAFF UNIONS OF UNIVERSITIES COMMENCE WARNING STRIKE.

Several University staff unions acting unanimously on the platform of a Joint Action Committee are leading a strike action against the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Strike which is indeed only a warning strike intended to run for just five (5) days, is aimed at compelling the Federal Government to implement the agreement it made with the Unions in 2009.

The Unions are the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).

The Non-teaching staff members of universities across Nigeria began the five-day warning strike on Sunday the 15th of January, 2015.

The Federal Government is still yet to invite the unions for negotiation.
